HILDA

Driftwood Impact Fund

As we invest, grow, and strive to make a meaningful difference, we are committed to transparency, strategic planning, and research to ensure that every charitable effort achieves the greatest possible impact for the local Driftwood community and the village of Gatokae Island.

Health—Innovation—Learning—Development—Aid

A highlight of Driftwood is our vibrant community. Local families, subsistence farmers, artisans, tradespeople, and storytellers are integral to our team, each contributing to where we are today.

We are dedicated to supporting this community through employment, educations, stable income, and sustainable practices. Our global guests, who’ve experienced the heart and soul of our village, often express a genuine interest in joining our efforts.

From engaging skilled professionals who offer their support during their stay, to physical or monetary donations there are countless opportunities to create a positive impact.

Grounded in our deep understanding of local needs, charitable contributions are not always straight forward when it comes to equality amongst the community. For this reason we invite those wanting to donate, to join us in supporting community enrichment through the our initiative: HILDA.

About HILDA

The charity is named in honour the late custodian of the land, Hilda Steven, wife of Stew and mother of Julie, Julina, Heidi, Hayley, and Nadia who still live at Driftwood today.

After her passing from kidney disease in 2023 at the age of 44, the inspiration to support and improve the local community’s resources and education around health has never been stronger.

Hilda was a beacon of light. She had the warmest heart, biggest smile and most captivating laugh. She was a pillar of strength and a force of nature, and it is our honour to give back to her community in her name.

Guided by our foundational values will continue to make a meaningful impact.

  • Improving community well-being through education and resources

  • Creating new solutions for social challenges

  • Providing training and educational opportunities

  • Fostering personal and community growth

  • Offering essential support to those in need
